A highly expressive dance, where the dancers simulate a hidding game.  It was danced from 1820 until the end of

the XIX century.  Danced in almost every region, such as Cuyo, Tucumán, La Rioja, Catamarca, Santiago del

Estero, Salta and probably Buenos Aires.  

CLASSIFICATION

Each dancer on its own and separatly.

POSITION

Dancers facing at both extremes of the diagonal of the imaginary dancing square. 

FIGURES

Dancers in hidding attitude:  a)  outside of the dancing square.  b)  man kneels with the left side facing the lady.    c)  an attitude for "zapateo" and winnowing.

 

ELEMENTS

 
    Basic step (starts with the left foot).   Arms and hands in castanet position.   Arms and hands in  
  winnowing  and "zapateo" positions.
